A lovely article from Philippa Perry pushing back on the pressure of the "New Year, New You" mantra so pervasive in January. She argues that perhaps it's time to "ditch those resolutions" and writes:
"The drive to be better often masks a fear of being rejected as we are. And yet learning to tolerate ourselves, is what actually allows growth to happen"
Rather than giving up on change, she invites her readers to consider the motivation and process of change - is it something fuelled by a fear of rejection or punishment or by pursuit of personal meaning, growth and compassion? Which is more likely to last?
