About Us

We are a Clinical Psychologist and a Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Psychotherapist with over 24 years experience between us. We met whilst working together at The Retreat York, and subsequently decided to set up a private clinic in Pocklington as an alternative to NHS services. We are both highly skilled, fully registered, accredited and insured therapists. In 2019 we expanded by working with associate therapists and added a second location in Wetherby.

To read more about our individual approaches, who we work with and which therapies we use please see our individual profiles. Our fees can be viewed here.

Whilst we share some similarities in terms of our approach to therapy (including our love of Compassion Focused Therapy) we also differ and each bring diverse experience and specialism. We both offer long and short term approaches, drawing from the most up to date evidence  base, and developing an individualised treatment plan suited to your needs. The therapeutic relationship is always at the centre of the therapy and our private, comfortable clinic room offers a safe space to start to understand your difficulties and the changes you would like to make.

Who we work with

We offer therapy to individuals age 16 (Year 11) and over, and are registered with a range of insurers including AXA, Aviva, Bupa and Vitality Health. We welcome self referrals and referrals from other sources, for example your GP or health visitor.

We are both trained to work with a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety, anger, OCD, phobias, trauma /PTSD, the after effects of abuse, eating problems and difficulties in relationships.  However this is not an exhaustive list; please contact us to discuss your needs.

Who we do not work with

  • those at high risk to themselves or others (such as actively suicidal or violent)

  • substance (alcohol and drug) dependency

If we feel we are not best placed to help you, we will do our best to offer suggestions and signpost you.
